While Mount Shavano Fish Hatchery outside Salida has not seen any major changes in recent years, the hatchery continues to raise, on average, 400,000 catchable and 3 million subcatchable fish per year, Manager Matt Schehrer said.

Throughout the year, the hatchery raises a variety of species that fall into two season categories: winter and spring species and summer and fall species, Schehrer said.
