Beverly Ann Grogan

Beverly Ann Grogan, 79, of Salida died Jan. 29, 2017, at Columbine Manor Care Center in Salida.

She was born May 11, 1937, in Hannibal, Mo., to Robert James Baker and Mary Jane MacIntosh Baker, the youngest of nine children.  

The family lived in Milton, Iowa, and she graduated from Fox Valley High School in 1954.  

She married William Louis Grogan on June 30, 1965, in Des Moines, Iowa.  

They later moved to Fairfield, Iowa, where the couple adopted two children, Jennifer and Jason.

She moved to Salida in 1999 after her husband died Dec. 28, 1998.

Friends and family said she loved life and people loved her, and her fun-loving personality and wit made her a favorite to many.  

She enjoyed sports from high school sports to her Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubbies.

Mrs. Grogan was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings Geneva Clark, Mary Louise Price, Twila Ward, Virginia Roberts, Roberta Baker, Richard Baker and Ralph Baker; and godson Gregory Nance.

Survivors include a brother, Ronald (Alice) Baker of Aurora; children, Jennifer Grogan Lofton (Andy Richards) of Salida and Jason (Kari) Grogan of Concordia, Kan; godchildren, who friends and family said she loved as her own, Jeffrey (Betty) Nance of Washington, Iowa, Ronda (Mike) Burke of Fairfield and Amy Nance (Terry Mendiola) of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Christina Grogan, Eric Grogan, Keegan Grogan, all of Concordia, Izaiah Grogan, stationed at Twentynine Palms, Calif., Allison Lofton of Hilo, Hawaii, Aspen Lofton of Salida, Hunter Symmons of Ottumwa, Iowa, Jayden Burke of Fairfield, Brenna (Zuriel) Zambonino of Dallas, Texas, Kara (Brett) Hallonquist of Lewisville, Texas, and Ezekial Faulks of Everett, Wash.; and great-grandchildren, Connor and Lucas Zambonino of Dallas and Brayden, Kylie and Tegan Hallonquist of Lewisville.

Her memorial service and celebration of life will be at a later date in Fairfield.
