Beaver Moon eclipse over the Rocky Mountains

The November full moon is traditionally known as the Beaver Moon because this is when beavers get ready for winter. The earth’s shadow covered 97-percent of the moon Friday morning. This was the longest partial eclipse since 1440 and will be until 2669, lasting 3 hours 28 minutes and 24 seconds. This photo was taken at 2:35 a.m. Friday as viewed in the southwestern sky.
