Elks host local Charity Ball

From left, Bre Turner, Betty Adams and Seth Turner enjoy dinner Saturday at the Salida Elks Lodge Charity Ball, themed “A Walk Under the Stars.” Seth, originally of Salida but visiting from Denver, was attending his first Elks Charity Ball. “The fundraiser is really cool,” he said, referring to the money being raised to buy Christmas baskets for families in need. The Charity Ball included a cash bar, a silent auction with more than 50 items, dinner, a 50/50 raffle, raffles for individual donated items and dancing with music played by a DJ. Winner of the 50/50 raffle was Brenda Beach. “It went really smoothly,” organizer Sam Johnson said. “We had a lot of donations from the public.” So far they have counted $2,700 in donations, but more is still coming in, Johnson said.
