Susan Wadsworth

Susan Wadsworth, 17, a Salida High School senior, is the Student of the Week. She is the daughter of Kathryn and George Wadsworth.

Susan enjoys learning and participating in all her classes.

“By staying on top of my homework and projects, I have been able to keep up with course work and participate in sports and other activities,” she said. “In addition to academic classes I really like the opportunity to take part in Fiber Arts.”

She has been active in Future Business Leaders of America all four years of high school, was parliamentarian in 2016/17 and is president this year.

She is active in Imagine That Chapter of Chaffee County 4-H, was vice president in 2016/17 and is currently president. She took grand champion at the Chaffee County Fair in 2017 in Heritage Arts, Crochet, has been on the 4-H Council since 2014 and in 2016/17 was the Imagine That County Council representative.

Also active in varsity athletics, she has participated in cross country since 2014, swimming since 2014, golf since 2015 and track in 2014/15.

Special honors Susan has received include being a National Honors Society member since 2016 and being on the honor roll since 2014.

Crocheting, rafting, golf, hunting deer and elk and skiing are among her hobbies and recreational interests.

Plans for the future are to take courses through Western Colorado Community College in Agriculture while earning a four-year degree through Colorado Mesa University.

She enjoys volunteering and helping when she can. The annual Arkansas River Clean-Up Green-Up, 4-H Barbecue Fundraiser for Oklahoma Cattleman’s Relief Fund, FIBArk running races, stuffing envelopes, hanging posters, setting up chairs, ushering at concerts and being an overall good community member are among her choices.
