Area cooks can learn how to make jams and jellies or bake artisan breads at workshops offered Wednesday and Tuesday by the Colorado State University Extension office in Chaffee County.

A hands-on workshop to learn the basics of making and preserving jams and jellies will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Chaffee County Fairgrounds meeting room.

The workshop costs $10, and participants will take at least one jar home. They may take their own aprons if desired.

Participants should register by noon Tuesday by calling the extension office at 539-6447.

The hands-on artisan breads class will meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday in the Chaffee County Fairgrounds meeting room.

In addition to artisan breads, participants will learn how to make foccacia and pizza crusts.

The workshop costs $12 and will include lunch. Participants should take their own beverages.
