The Upper Arkansas Service Club had some extra help at the annual community Easter egg hunt Saturday in Thonhoff Park.

Several members of the Salida Community Center board of directors were among those assisting.

Paul Smith, president of the community center board, said that the board members were auditing the event.

He said the community center is considering taking over the event, along with the Upper Arkansas Service Club’s flag program and FIBArk pancake breakfast.

Taking over such programs may help finance activities at the community center, and the community center may be able to furnish the events with more volunteers, Smith said.

Chuck Azzopardi of the Upper Arkansas Service Club said right now it’s an exploratory process, and they want to make sure everybody involved is comfortable with the change.

He said the change will probably be phased in over the next year.
