Laura Conchelos of Sandhill Solar in Monte Vista will teach a free introductory class in making power from the sun from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Little Shepherd Fellowship Hall in downtown Crestone.

Conchelos will explain what photovoltaics are, the difference between off-grid and grid-tied systems and other basic solar information, according to a press release.

In addition, attendees will learn about a website where they can enter information from their utility bills from 2018 to get an idea of how much a residential solar system would cost them.

The event is sponsored by the Crestone Baca Resiliency Energy Group. For questions, call or text Janet Woodman at 719-937-3767.
