Texas Man charged in Sunday crash

Jonathan Schwab - Mail Staff Writer

A Texas man was charged with careless driving causing bodily injury and failure to provide proof of insurance after a two-vehicle crash Sunday injured three people.

Colorado State Trooper J.W. Richards reported Bartholemew Costello of San Antonio was driving a pickup truck westbound in a curve, across a double yellow line, in the wrong lane, passing a non-contact vehicle.

The wreck was on U.S. 50 about a mile east of Swissvale.

Richards reported Costello made an unsuccessful attempt to swerve away from an eastbound Buick carrying three people. The front of the passenger car struck the right side of the Costello pickup.

The three people injured in the Buick were treated and released Sunday at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida.
