Historic Salida Inc. features 'Sacred Stones,' a slide show about native stone structures
"Sacred Stones," a slide show about Native American area stone structures will be presented during the Historic Salida Inc. meeting at noon, April 20 at Salida Regional Library, 4th and D Streets.

Nick Standing Bear of the Lakota/Apache/Ute and Becky Donlan of the Colorado Historical Society - U.S. Forest Service volunteer archaeologist - will explain significance of the prehistoric structures.

They will speak about why the structures are important to Native Americans, laws preserving the areas and how the public can help preserve them.

Bear and Donlan will touch upon the potential for destruction of historic and prehistoric sites in the Piñon Canyon maneuver site expansion of Fort Carson.

A short business meeting for board members of Historic Salida will follow the presentation.
