Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center Foundation is offering two scholarships of $5,000 each for any certified emergency medical technician/paramedic who lives or has lived within the Salida Hospital District and plans to attend college in the fall to pursue an associate degree in nursing.

The district encompasses all of Chaffee, western Fremont and northern Saguache counties.

Individuals who live in other regions of Saguache County also may apply.

The scholarship is new to the foundation.

Foundation Director Kimla Robinson said an anonymous donor with an EMT/paramedic background recently donated the money for the scholarship to offer others in the field the opportunity to further their studies.

Applicants can download the guidelines and application at hrrmc.com. Click on the HRRMC Foundation tab and the Foundation Scholarship tab and scroll down to the EMS/RN scholarship links.

A link to the guidelines and application is also available on the HRRMC Facebook page.

Applications should be sent to HRRMC Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee, P.O. Box 429, Salida, CO 81201.

The application deadline is July 15.

For more information or to request a paper application, call the foundation at 719-530-2218.
