The Salida Record, June 13, 1919:

History was made at Washington the latter part of May when, for the first time, women met with the leaders of a great political party to have a voice in the planning of the campaign and discussion of policies.

Mrs. Medill McCormick of Illinois, chairman of the Republican Women’s National Executive Committee, presided at some of the important sessions.

She is shown here on the platform with Chairman Will Hays of the Republican National Committee, just before introducing him for an address. Prominent leaders from all sections attended the conference.
