The Mountain Mail, June 13, 1969:

June is the traditional month for weddings everywhere. It may show more than normal this year when young lovers find that the fee for the marriage license will increase by two-thirds to a new cost of $5 effective July 1, 1969. The present fee is $3.

According to Chaffee County Clerk Jasper Cortese, Colorado law not only makes the change in the cost of the marriage license effective on the first day of July, but also includes other qualifications for those desiring to secure the license.
