Chaffee County DHS, Family and Youth Initiatives is hiring a Community Prevention Specialist that will focus on reducing the local availability of substances to youth by supporting and implementing strategies developed by Family and Youth Initiatives community collaboration, Communities That Care (CTC). The Community Prevention Specialist supports the CTC prevention strategy work-group to complete actions developed in the strategy group action plan. This position requires an organized and dynamic individual with a working knowledge of Law enforcement, justice system and at-risk youth populations. This position requires good time management skills and the ability to multi-task. The position will support overall goals and objectives for FYI programs and support programming as needed. This person will be assisting in implementation of Chaffee County's Community Action Plan to reduce youth access to substances by completing strategy-related tasks that arise. The focus is build support for conventional enforcement of existing laws. They will spend time building professional relationships with local law enforcement, DA's office, JD 11 representatives, FCRJ, and schools to find common ground on reducing youth alcohol use.
